Terminology and Inclusion Statement

At Deaf Access, we understand that the Deaf experience is not one-size-fits-all. Deafness exists on a wide spectrum—ranging from mild to profound hearing loss. It includes individuals who are hard of hearing, late-deafened, DeafBlind, oral Deaf, and culturally Deaf, among others.

However, to maintain clarity and consistency throughout this platform and documentation, we use the word “Deaf” as an umbrella term to respectfully and inclusively represent everyone across this spectrum.

We make this choice:
– To communicate clearly and consistently across our content
– To avoid lengthy repeated terminology that might overwhelm our users
– With full acknowledgement and respect for the diversity of Deaf identities

This decision comes from a place of deep care and practicality, not exclusion. We honour every individual’s unique identity and invite you to be part of a space that listens, learns, and includes

We’re Building an FSL Dictionary!

In the Philippines, accessible, inclusive, and verified Filipino Sign Language (FSL) resources remain limited—especially in far-flung areas.

We’re creating a free, nationwide FSL dictionary app to bring people together—one sign at a time.
